Cantrell says she's closing restaurants that refused to stop selling alcohol to go

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has shut down a restaurant chain she says continued to sell alcohol to go despite her order to stop.

She announced today that Willie's Chicken Shack failed to comply.

"My task force was on the ground.  And as a result of that those locations are closed and will remain closed throughout this pandemic," the mayor said at a morning news conference.

Pictures posted over the weekend showed people taking drinks out of Willie's.

Willie's has eight locations in the French Quarter.

Cantrell says, however, by and large establishments followed the rules.

"Overall the response was compliance."
