LSU’s Heisman trophy winning quarterback Joe Burrow became the first player taken in the 2020 NFL Draft, when the Cincinnati Bengals selected him with the first pick.
Burrow, who became LSU’s starting quarterback in 2018 after transferring from Ohio State, is coming off a record-setting season that culminated with him leading the Tigers to a national championship. Burrow finished 2019 with a NCAA record 60 touchdowns and set nearly every SEC single-season passing mark with 402 completions, 5,671 yards, 65 total touchdowns.
His 76.3 completion percentage for the year ranks second all-time in college football history.
The 6-foot-3, 221-pound Burrow, became a unanimous All-American and won the Maxwell, Walter Camp, Davey O’ Brien, Manning and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Awards en route to be coming the top quarterback prospect in this year’s draft class.
