The LSU Fighting Tigers have done it all: won national championship, met the President, rode in a parade. What’s next for the Tigers and Coach Ed Orgeron?
Because of the national championship game just a little over a week ago, Coach O is having a shorter off-season. With national signing day just around the corner (February 5) , and spring football just around the corner,” there is no time for Coach O to rest, said WWL.com LSU columnist Jeff Palermo.
Palermo said that Coach Orgeron needs to hit the ground running. They have six more recruiting spots open, have yet to sign a running back, and are in need of linebackers since Jacob Phillips and Patrick Queen decided to leave early for the NFL Draft.
And, oh yeah, Orgeron is also looking for a couple of coaches, having lost Joe Brady to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers and Dave Aranda to Baylor University.
Palermo says that it’s not critical that Orgeron fill the coaching vacancies first.
“I don’t think Coach needs to rush into this thing,” he said, noting that Coach O and offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger are not going anywhere, and defensive recruits know what LSU does on defense, and the reputation LSU has.
