Coronavirus Crisis: Louisiana to run out of ventilators in four days

Louisiana was due to run out of ventilators on April 2nd.

That date is now April 9th.

Speaking on Sunday’s State of the Union on CNN, Governor John Bel Edwards made the ominous prediction based on models projecting the progression of the disease.

Another source of blame is the slow trickle of ventilator availability from the Strategic National Stockpile.

Obtaining ventilators from private vendors have bought Louisiana some time, but the rapidly rising numbers of COVID-19 victims will out strip the progress made to get ventilators.

Edwards doubled down on the pessimistic predictions by saying the state will run out of hospital bed space for Intensive Care Unit patients on April 11.
