Entergy Louisiana expects to have power available to the majority of customers in Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes by September 23, with the remaining customers online by September 30.

Hurrricane Laura made landfall on August 24. Entergy Louisiana spokesperson Brandon Scardigli said it left an incredible amount of damage in its wake.

“It’s been a huge effort, it’s a big undertaking and we still have 8,700 workers on the ground in southwest Louisiana who are working to get that all back online,” said Scardigli.

Roughly 44,000 customers in Calcasieu and Cameron parishes still don’t have power, but Scardigli said that is down from a peak of 93,000. Across all of Entergy Louisiana’s territory in Louisiana, nearly 403,000 customers have had their power restored after losing it due to Laura.

Scardigli said the Calcasieu Plant and the Lake Charles Power Station are back online, which means now they just need to start getting substations online that can connect that power to neighborhoods.

Entergy encourages customers to make sure they have a certified electrician check their homes if they have any storm damage to make sure they can receive power when it becomes available.
