Just short of six years ago Baton Rouge Police arrived at a home to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Timothy Pena would later die at a hospital.
Investigators determined Pena was seated in his truck when he was shot in the back of the head.
Now, DNA has positively linked former NFL football player Devin Holland and another man, Antoine Robinson to the case.
Reconstructing the murder, homicide investigators determined a series of text messages showed Pena was meeting up to buy drugs.
Phone records showed Pena was texting with Devin Holland.
The suspects were linked to the truck by DNA evidence collected during the investigation, according to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate.
31-year-old Antoine Robinson was taken into custody ten days earlier, Holland was arrested Wednesday.
Holland played football at McNeese and Tulane. He signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent in 2011. He later signed with the Washington Redskins until being released in 2013.
