Laura leaves over 260,000 homes, businesses with no power

While Hurricane Laura pushes her way north towards Shreveport, she leaves over 260,000 homes and businesses without electricity.

The power outages blanket Lafayette, Lake Charles and extend north to Alexandria and Shreveport.

According to Entergy’s outage map, 135,170 households and businesses in about 50 parishes are without power. Entergy warns it could take days before power is restored.

Cleco customers were not spared from Laura’s path of destruction. According to Cleco’s outage map, 128,555 homes and businesses are in the dark with no electricity.

Some of the hardest hit parishes are Calcasieu, Allen, and Jefferson Davis. Nearly every Entergy and CLECO customer in those parishes are without power.

While Laura was still in the Gulf of Mexico, both power companies strategically staged lineman bucket trucks for a quick response in restoring power as soon as it is safe to do so.

Entergy customers can report power outages by calling 1-800-9-OUTAGE or text the word OUT to 36778.

Cleco customers can report outages by calling 1-800-622-6537.
