Over the weekend the father of East Baton Parish Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier, the deputy who was severely injured in July of 2016 during a police ambush, made a surprise video announcement about his son.
James Tullier had been living in Houston helping care for his son’s recovery and rehabilitation at an apartment adjacent to TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital.
“Part of the big secret is our new address, it’s not Houston, it’s Baton Rouge, that’s the big secret, we’ve moved back to Baton Rouge,” says Tullier.
The Tullier family had been looking to move from the apartment to a house, but that house is now in Baton Rouge, not Texas.
The move was done in three stages, and Tullier says it was a coordinated effort by the East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish Sheriffs Offices. Tullier says the deputies have always been supportive.
“How do you want this done, what do you need us to do. They were just awesome. There are no words really to say thank you enough to those guys,” says Tullier.
Tullier says the apartment proved to be too small with all the rehab equipment and Nick’s current health allowed for the family to make the move.
“Nick’s doing well, has been for quite some time now. Hasn’t had any lung trouble or any other problems that we haven’t been able to handle ourselves,” says Tullier.
