A summit of sorts will take place tonight at Mardi Gras World when the Captains of all major krewes and representatives of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s administration will meet to discuss Mardi Gras 2021.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, tonight’s meeting will see the creation of a COVID-19 medical sub-committee to address the pandemic and other issues related to the infection.
At this point the heads of all the major krewes have vowed to roll in 2021.
Endymion Captain Dan Kelly told WWL-TV his krewe members have paid their dues and are ready to participate, float construction is on-going and they’ve ordered throws and souvenirs in anticipation of marching.
Despite this, it was in April that Mayor Cantrell told the Washington Post that canceling the celebration was still on the table.
