Take your dog to Mardi Gras, too.  Pet parades begin this weekend, and don’t end until the weekend after Mardi Gras.

Pet Parades start tomorrow with the Krewe du Paws in Old Town Slidell at 10 am.  Formed in 2009 to bring attention to Old Town and to raise money for animal welfare causes.

On Sunday, the Mystic Krewe of Barkus takes to the streets of the French Quarter.

"The Mystic Krewe of Barkus is the oldest of all the pet parades in the United States," said Professor Carl Nivale, television personality and Mardi Gras historian, "and the only all canine krewe in New Orleans."

The fun continues after Mardi Gras.  Saturday, February 29, Krewe du Pooch debuts in Old Town Slidell. They are holding a costume contest with the theme of LSU and The Saints.

Then on Sunday, March 1, Mardi Gras 2020 officially ends with the Krewe Of Mardi Paws in downtown Covington.
