NOFD investigating fatal 2-alarm fire in St. Claude

The New Orleans Fire Department is investigating what led to a fatal fire in the St. Claude neighborhood.

It happened about 8:42 p.m. Thursday night at 3401 Urquhart Street. When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy fire coming out of the front of the building and side windows.  A second alarm was called in.

It took 15 NOFD units and 43 firefighters to bring the fire under control at 9:06 p.m.  Once the fire was under control they did a search of the home and found the body of one male victim in the rear of the home, and the body of another male victim in the middle bedroom of the shotgun-style home. The cause of the fatal fire is under investigation.
