The Saints were virtually shoe-ins to get to Super Bowl LIV in Miami in early February. That appears to be changing now.
The injury to Drew Brees definitely shakes things up. As Raphael Esparza oddsmaker with MyBookie.ag say before the injury the Saints odds were in the single digits.
"They were in the single digits before coming in to this game, now they are 20 to 1," Esparza said. "I mean it's not as doom and gloom as the Pittsburgh Steelers who lost Big Ben for the season, who are now 65 to 1. But for the Saints who had high hopes to win the division, compete in the NFC, it is a little rough for Saints fans."
Esparza adds however a loss to Seattle this week and the odds could jump even higher.
"If they lose to Seattle this week, then I would not be shocked if they are then in the 30 range and maybe even 35 to 1 to win the Super Bowl," said Esparza.
The Brees injury had oddsmakers scrambling, according to Esparza.
"It's been a little bit of backpeddling for us," he said. "Now we just have to make sure we don't get bombarded of action coming in with how much money people are going to be betting on Seattle this week."
