A lawsuit filed against the builder of the collapsed Hard Rock Hotel is seeking damages on behalf of the employees of the damaged Saenger Theatre. The plaintiff in the case is a part time employee.
"You have workers who are working in businesses in the areas that were closed off," attorney Mark Glago told WWL-TV. "You have business owners in those areas and others that suffered economic loss."
The collapse caused a piece of a construction elevator frame to smash a hole in the roof of the historic structure. When the leaning construction cranes were blown up on Sunday, the explosion caused three windows in the Saenger to break.
The suit, which seeks class action status, claims the employees of the theatre have suffered as the area around Canal and Rampart is sealed off.
A judge has ordered the preservation of all communication and records related to the project.
