Saints defensive end Marcus Davenport looked strong over the first part of his rookie season but saw his production drastically tail off as the year went on, particularly after dealing with what was described as a toe injury. Today on Twitter, Davenport himself shed a little more light on what may have derailed his first-year production.

Most people don’t know but I had been dealing with what was considered a season ending injury. Lucky I was able to play through the pain and although not a 100 % I finish the season. I promise to come back better . Thank you to all that supported. pic.twitter.com/IBuUJ5Hu02

It looks like we'll have to wait to learn the full extent of what hampered the Saints' 2018 first-round pick out of UTSA and when he'll be back to full-speed.
