LSU 27, Arkansas 24: Jay Ward blocks Razorbacks' game-tying field goal attempt

LSU cornerback Jay Ward blocked Arkansas’ game-tying field goal attempt late in the fourth quarter to help LSU seal a 27-24 win against the Razorbacks in Fayetteville.

LSU scored first in the matchup via a 49-yard field goal from Cade York that capped an eight-play, 51-yard drive.

Arkansas was able to respond quickly with a 65-yard touchdown pass from Feleipe Franks to Treylon Burks. The score capped a four-play, 92-yard drive

The Tigers regained the lead in the second quarter when TJ Finley found a wide open Racey  McMath with a 30-yard touchdown pass that finished a 10-play, 75 yard drive. A key play on the drive was a fourth down conversion by receiver Arik Gilbert.

LSU added to its lead (17-7) in later in the second quarter when Ty Davis-Price scored on a 1-yard run. The touchdown was set up by a 36-yard interception return from linebacker Jabril Cox.

Arkansas narrowed the gap on the ensuing drive when Franks capped a three-play, 75-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown run. The score was set up when receiver Mike Woods hauled in a 50- reception two plays earlier.

The Tigers took a 20-14 lead into the locker room at halftime after Cade York finished a 14-play, 69-yard drive with a 24-yard field goal.

Arkansas retook the lead in the third quarter when Trelon Smith rushed for a 1-yard touchdown. the score was set up by a 50-yard reception from Woods that gave the Razorbacks the ball on the LSU 2.

Arkansas added to the lead with 22-yard field goal from AJ Reed in the fourth.

LSU took a 27-24 lead when TJ Finley found Jaray Jenkins in the end zone with a 13-yard touchdown pass.
