Packers 37, Saints 30: New Orleans loses second-straight


The New Orleans Saints lost their second straight game of the season after falling to the Green Bay Packers, 37-30 Sunday night in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Penalties were once again a problem for New Orleans as the Saints were penalized eight times for 83 yards in the loss.

Here's how it happened:

First quarter

Packers 3, Saints 0, 7:30: Green Bay’s Mason Crosby hit a 52-yard field goal to complete a 10-play 35-yard drive.

Saints 7, Packers 3, 5:07: Drew Brees connected with Alvin Kamara for an 11-yard touchdown pass the cap a four-play, 77-yard drive. The score was set up by a 49 -yard run fro Kamara a few plays earlier.

Second quarter

Saints 7, Packers 6, 14:12: Crosby hit his second field goal of the game a 33-yarder to cap a 12-play, 60-yard drive.

Packers 13, Saints 7, 10:32: Aaron Rodgers tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Allen Lazard to finish a three-play, 50 yard drive. Lazard two plays prior hauled in a 48-yard reception from Rodgers. The drive was also aided by and unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Saints DB J.T. Gray during the punt. The penalty gave the Packers better field position.

Packers 13, Saints 10, 4:28: Will Lutz hits a 45-yard field goal to cap an 11-play, 49-yard drive. A key play on the drive was a 21-yard reception from Kamara on third and 15 when the Saints were at their own 20.

Saints 17, Packers 13, :06: Brees connected with Emmanuel Sanders for a 10-yard touchdown pass. The score capped an 11-play, 61-yard drive.

Third quarter

Packers 20, Saints 17, 12:58: Aaron Jones scores on a 1-yard fourth down run capping a seven-play, 75-yard drive. Most of those yards were gained on a 72-yard reception from Lazard.

Saints 20, Packers 20, 5:55: Lutz connected on his second field goal of the night, a 35-yarder, to cap a 12-play, 58-yard drive.

Packer 27, Saints 20, 2:17: Marcedes Lewis hauled in a 12-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers that capped a 6-play, 75-yard drive.

Saints 27, Packers 27, :33: Alvin Kamara scored on a 52-yard catch and run from Brees where he evaded several tackles. The play capped a 75-yard drive.

Fourth quarter

Packers 30, Saints 27, 8:47: Crosby hit a 49-yard field goal to cap a 7-play, 26-yard drive.

Packers 37, Saints 27, 2:00: Rodgers tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Robert Tonyan to finish a 7-play, 64-yard drive.

Packers 37, Saints 30, :32: Lutz his a 34-yard field goal.
