Through the first three games of the 2020 NFL season the Saints defense has been missing Marcus Davenport. An elbow issue has kept the 6ft6, 265 pound defensive end out of the lineup but, Sean Payton expects to have him back for Sunday’s road trip to Detroit.
“Hopefully, we have Davenport back this week, we think that he could provide some added rush,” said the Saints head coach
After missing time in training camp that spilled into the regular season, Davenport was limited in two practices leading up to week 3’contest but, ultimately was inactive for game day.
In his absence, Trey Hendrickson and Carl Granderson have been seeing more snaps at DE and have accounted for 3 of the teams’ 7 sacks.
Davenport has missed the final three games in each of his first two years with foot issues, now concerns about him being injury prone are growing since he’s not on the field to start this season. In 26 games, the 2018 1st round pick has 10.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles and 2 passes defensed.
