With another 3,266 COVID cases confirmed in the state just today, hospitalizations up by another 40 patients, and 39 more coronavirus deaths today; Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards makes a final appeal to everyone this afternoon not to gather for Thanksgiving.

He holds a news conference at 2:30 this afternoon.

You will hear that live here on WWL.com.

There are now 224,403 cases in Louisiana, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

The state reports a total of 6,323 COVID-19 deaths and 1,052 patients hospitalized with coronavirus.

Numbers have been surging all week in what officials say is a spike that started as a result of Halloween gatherings.
