Plaquemines Parish took a hit from Hurricane Zeta.
“We see a lot of damage in the northern end from Ironton to Port Sulphur, on that side of the road…not the new transmission line but the wooden poles… there are almost 400 of them down,” Plaquemines Parish President Kirk Lepine told WWL First News.
He says there are still damage assessments coming in from around the parish. Initial reports, he says, finds damaged poles on Highway 11 and Highway 39 on the east bank side of the parish.
About 97% of Plaquemines Parish is without power. Lepine says power poles are down as far south as Port Sulphur. Entergy crews are out in the parish working to restore the power but Lepine says it will take some time.
“Be Patient. That is what I tell my constituents, my people, my residents,” said Lepine. “I know that is tough but be patient.”
