U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy is among the first Republican leaders to public acknowledge President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

He is joined by a growing number of Republicans calling for a transition of power.

Cassidy made his announcement in a statement on Twitter. His acknowledgement comes after battleground state Michigan certified Biden’s victory and a Pennsylvania judge tossed out a Trump lawsuit attempting to prevent that certification.

“With Michigan’s certifying it's results, Joe Biden has over 270 electoral college votes. President Trump’s legal team has not presented evidence of the massive fraud, which would have had to be present to overturn the election. I voted for President Trump but Joe Biden won,” said Senator Cassidy. “The transition should begin for the sake of the country.”
