Tropical Storm Zeta was moving northwest at 15 mph Tuesday night, with a turn to the north then northeast forecast over the next several hours.
"On the forecast track, the center of Zeta will move over the central Gulf of Mexico overnight," said National Hurricane Center Senior Hurricane Specialist Eric Blake. "Zeta is forecast to make landfall in southeastern Louisiana Wednesday afternoon, move close to the Mississippi coast Wednesday evening, and move across the southeastern and eastern United States on Thursday."
The forecast has the center of Zeta over southeastern St. Tammany Parish in 24 hours.
"Hurricane conditions are expected Wednesday afternoon within portions of the Hurricane Warning area between Morgan City, Louisiana, and the Mississippi/Alabama border," said Blake. "Damaging winds, especially in gusts, will spread well inland across portions of southeast Mississippi and southern Alabama Wednesday night due to Zeta's fast forward speed."
