CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A lottery has locked in the ballot positions for mayor and aldermanic elections in Aurora next April, and the incumbent is sitting on top.
There are three candidates for mayor of Illinois’ second-largest city, and all three filed at the same time. So, Aurora City Clerk Jennifer Stallings held a live-streamed lottery drawing for ballot position.
It was the luck of the draw for Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin. It was his number that Stallings pulled first in the lottery drawing.
Former East Aurora School Board member John Laesch will appear second on the ballot and Alderman John Lofchie got third place.
There were also drawings for contested races in Aurora’s seventh and tenth wards. In two other races, the incumbents are unopposed.
The election is April 6.
