(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A gastropub on Chicago’s North Side is trying to unload a couple of dozen kegs of craft beer while also helping its laid-off workers.
The Hopleaf closed earlier this year because of COVID-19 and is waiting out the pandemic. Owner Michael Roper said the business still has a nice inventory of kegs and half-kegs for sale.
“Beer is perishable, and not knowing how long this will last we’re trying to find a home for those kegs,” Roper told WBBM Newsradio on Tuesday. “Many of our customers have home Kegerators or home draft systems.”
Roper says he’s optimistic for the future.
“History tells us after the 1918 and 1919 pandemic what happened: We had the Roaring Twenties,” he said. “I’d like to see a new Roaring Twenties.”
