WHEATON, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The DuPage Care Center is offering several ways to spread Valentine’s Day love to the residents of the center with the click of a button.
Each year, the Care Center provides Valentine’s balloons to residents to spread cheer and warm wishes.
“We had one gentleman, we brought him balloons and he broke out into song and serenaded us, he was so happy,” said Julie Renehan, chairwoman of DuPage County Health and Human Services.
Renehan told WBBM the delivery will look a bit different this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, but the gesture will be the same.
“It’s so wonderful that we can have heart-shaped balloons provided to residents. You get the opportunity to deliver a balloon, knowing that it brings smiles in the hallway and brings some solace to people. It’s a great thing we can continue to provide,” Renehan said.
Balloon donations are $4 and can be made by visiting https://dpccfoundation.org/valentines-day-balloons/ through Feb. 10.
Balloons will then be delivered on Feb. 12.
The money raised from balloon sales will go directly into the Resident Recreation Fund, which provides things like art supplies, small electronics, and books to help improve quality of life.
The DuPage Care Center also created an Amazon Wish List featuring items the residents need.
