North Branch Trail: The North Branch Trail begins in Gompers Park at Foster and Kostner Avenues on the city’s northwest side, following the North Branch of the Chicago River to Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe. There it connects to the Green Bay Trail up the North Shore. It’s a paved trail, open to bicyclists, hikers and runners free from sunrise to sunset.
