Several UConn students have been kicked out from on-campus housing after video surfaced this week showing a packed dorm room party where no one was wearing masks and social distancing rules were ignored.

The university said the students jeopardized their own health and the welfare of others. Additional consequences are possible, pending an investigation.

Students moved in Friday, two weeks early, for testing and quarantine.

"UConn is testing its entire residential population for COVID-19 upon students’ arrival to campus, and providing testing at no expense for off-campus students who plan to commute to attend in-person courses," the school said in a statement on Facebook.

On Tuesday, UConn reported about 0.10 percent of students who were tested for COVID-19 before moving into the Storrs residence halls over the weekend received positive results.

The school said 3,850 residential students have been tested and five were positive. More than two dozen residential students are in quarantine.

Two commuter students also tested positive while a third who had previously tested positive has medically recovered.

There have been no positive cases reported among the 1,874 employees who have been tested.

“There will undoubtedly be more positive cases as more tests result in the coming days, and we will address each the same way as we work to protect the health of individual students and our community,” said UConn Dean of Students Eleanor Daugherty.
